玻璃光纤是由高折射率的光学玻璃芯料与低折射率的光学玻璃皮料所构成。当光线以一定角度进入光纤后，在芯与皮界面上发生多次全反射，将光能由一端传至另一端，实现光的传导。多组分玻璃光纤主要性能参数：单丝直径20~55um；数值孔径0.5~0.75；透过率每米>55%;光谱范围380~1350nm。
